Kengo Matsuda (松田 ケンゴ Matsuda Kengo) is one of the main characters of the Renai Daikou manga series.
Appearance[]
Kengo has short black hair and is often seen wearing sunglasses. Early on, he appears to have a chubby build but it is later revealed that rather than fat, they are in fact muscles. He When providing love agency services, he uses a mascot of a Tanuki to communicate.
During his time at junior high, Kengo appears more slender, but he wears regular glasses instead of sunglasses. Later on, Kengo successfully completes a weight loss regime and he returns to a more slender build.
Personality[]
Kengo has a tendency to behave as if he is his mascot on a daily basis with a quirky speech pattern. As such, he is always cheerful. However this does not mean he would not feel down at times, such as when he once spots his crush speaking to his client. [1]
Etymology[]
- The name Kengo is written in katakana (ケンゴ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (謙吾, 健吾, 堅吾, or 謙伍), it could possibly mean:
- 謙吾 - "humble, modest" (謙) (ken), and "I, Me" (吾) (go)
- 健吾 - "strong, healthy" (健) (ken), and "I, Me" (吾) (go)
- 堅吾 - "tough, strict" (堅) (ken), and "I, Me" (吾) (go)
- 謙伍 - "humble, modest" (謙) (ken), and "five" (伍) (go)
- His surname Matsuda means "pine tree" (松) (matsu) and "paddy, field" (田) (da).
Trivia[]
- Kengo once mentioned a girl that he was in love with, and the associated flashback shows a long-haired girl in a uniform similar to what was shown when Kokon remembered her past in an earlier chapter. [2][3]
- It is later confirmed that the girl that he is in love with is indeed Kokon, when Kengo is forced to tell the story of how he fell in love.[4]
