Contract Termination (契約打ち切り Keiyaku Uchikiri) is the thirty-seventh chapter of Renai Daikou manga series, written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Nishizawa 5mm. It was released in issue #25, 2024 of Weekly Young Jump on May 23, 2024.[1]\

Summary[]

At the Daikou.com office, the president informs Kokon that Mari has made contact to request the termination of her contract. The president does want to get into legal trouble and since Mari has also transferred the rest of the fee, there was nothing more to discuss.

Kokon is stunned by Mari's decision and gets in contact with Mari right away to demand answers. Mari explains that her mother does not approve of Seki. Her mother spotted Seki walking Mari in the other day and got furious. Therefore, she will give up on Seki and love in general for the moment. Kokon attempts to persuade get Mari to reconsider, but Mari has given up. Her house is a mess right now, and her mother nearly found out about the agency requests after going through her drawers. Kokon tell Mari that the agency can also offer if it is family trouble.

Mari declines the offer, explaining that her mother is normally nice, but she is emotionally unstable due to a series of failed loves. Therefore, Mari needs to protect her and Kokon argues against it, saying that is codependency and Mari should muster her courage, or she will end up like a slave. Mari then snaps back at Kokon, telling her she has no right to talk about courage. Mari goes on to remind Kokon that she ran away, calls her a hikikomori who lacks the courage to attend school. Nonetheless, she is grateful to Kokon as she is certain things would have worked out with Seki if it was allowed to continue. Thus, she has paid out the full amount as a reward. Mari then bids her farewell and ends the call.

Some time later, Kokon is wandering on the streets when she head women's laughers, and she immediately puts her hood up and looks away. Kokon then remembers her last conversation with Mari and reflects on her thoughts on women. To Kokon, women are fickle creatures, they can be your friend one day but your enemy the day after; being forced to go to school with them every day was a torture. Mari is just the same, but she then stops herself as she realizes that she is becoming sentimental. She then has an epiphany as she recognizes Mari as her friend, and she heads to her school. In her classroom, Mari is shocked to see Kokon in front of her, and she asks why. Kokon responds by reaffirming their friendship.
