Successful Weight Loss (減量成功 Genryō Seikō) is the twenty-ninth chapter of the manga series Renai Daikou, written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Nishizawa 5mm. It was released in issue #13, 2024 of Weekly Young Jump on February 29, 2024. [1]
Plot[]
Kengo has achieved his target of reducing his weight by 15 kilograms. Seki and Mari are astonished that he succeeded, and Kengo thanks them for helping him along the way. Seki casually mentions that the girl Kengo likes will be interested in him. Mari is curious and asks what kind of girl Kengo likes, and as Seki describes her, Mari gets the mental image of Kokon in her head.
They then formulate a plan to impress her. Seki first proposes doing something akin to a grand reveal, but the idea's quickly shut down by Mari, who explains that this is a horrible idea. Kengo's target would not be impressed; she would think he just got slimmer and would not change her opinion of him. Mari advises doing things slowly and casually, and Kengo sees wisdom in her idea. Seki then asks what Mari would do, and she comes up with the idea of saving a cat from a river. Seki finds it unrealistic to have a cat in a river. Kengo then explains that he does not need a plan that is so specific, as his target would have no problems recognizing him.
Seki then suggests sprucing up his looks, but Mari dislikes the idea as it would be too flashy and playboyish. Instead, making oneself clean and presentable would be better. Seki then wonders out loud if it would not be better to be entirely different from head to toe. In response, Mari says that becoming different to be liked would not work. She then states that, while Seki is not as cool as the one she knew before, he is still somewhat cool. In Kengo's mind, he believes what Mari has said is true and that being oneself is all it takes in the end.
At the agency, an exhausted Kokon has come to claim her expenses for the trip. She sits down, and Kengo explains that the president is out. Kokon suddenly realizes that she does not recognize the person sitting in front of her.
