Ketogenic (ケトジェニック Ketojenikku) is the twenty-sixth chapter of the manga series Renai Daikou, written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Nishizawa 5mm. It was released in issue #8, 2024 of Weekly Young Jump on January 25, 2024. [1]
Plot[]
Kokon is on a call with Mari: She will be taking a leave of absence over the summer as her presence is required abroad. She is heading to the North Pole at the request of a client who wants to get proposed there. The agency has arranged a substitute agent during her absence, but Mari declines the offer, not wanting anyone else. Kokon is grateful for her preference but asks if Mari will be all right without her, and an annoyed Mari asserts that she will be fine.
The next day, Mari is still fuming about Kokon's comments when she comes across Kengo. Since she had no problems speaking with him by herself before, she goes up to greet him. However, he is not alone as Seki is with him. Panicked, Mari instinctively goes for her phone but remembers Kon is not available. She steadies herself and asks if the two are friends, which Seki confirms and that he is helping Kengo with his diet. Mari questions his reasons and Seki immediately replies to be popular. Mari views this response with suspicion, but Kengo explains he has a specific target in mind, and she deduces that it is the target he previously told her about. She then shares her knowledge about diets, such as losing fat and even muscles, among models. Mari then recalls a similar conversation she had with Kokon. Kokon once explained the Ketogenic diet to Mari, and she relays the information to Kengo. She further recommends several muscle training YouTubers to him for reference.
Armed with the information, Kengo begins his diet with Seki. Soon, early August becomes mid-August and one day, while Seki is having a break, Mari comes to ask him why he is exercising with Kengo. He explains that when exercising, having a partner helps, and it is also good for his body. Mari dismisses it as an attempt to get popular, which he does not deny, but he also tells her that he has someone in mind as well. Mari blushes, but shrugs off the comment, stating that he would say such a thing to anyone. While many enjoy the heat of the summer, Kokon is having a bad time with the cold at the North Pole.
