Messiah Complex (メサイアコンプレックス Mesaiakonpurekkusu) is the twenty-third chapter of the manga series Renai Daikou, written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Nishizawa 5mm. It was released in issue #3-4, 2024 of Weekly Young Jump on December 21, 2024. [1]
Plot[]
Kokon is once again trying to convince Mari to reconsider her decision regarding Seki, complementing that Mari has good taste. Mari points out that by following that logic, Kengo is a good choice as well, instantly disgusting her love agent. As they continued their discussion, Mari hit upon the man of the hour. Kengo is alone at an embankment, he picks up a clover, tries to catch a fox, and rolls into the waterway. As he looks up, he notices Mari, and she requests Kon's aid.
Sat down, Kengo explains the situation to Mari, he comes across his friend and his crush together. Hearing that he has someone he likes, Kon tries to convince Mari to give up again, but Mari to further her advances, asks Kengo to give up his pursuit. He states that they were not dating, they were simply eating burgers together and touching shoulders. In addition, she is the type to do that with any guy. Mari tells him to stop pursuing this girl as he would not be happy that way. Kengo disagrees, expressing that he does not seek happiness for himself, but rather brings her happiness instead. Kokon feels disgusted by his view on love, finding his messiah complex gross. She thought Mari would be grossed too, but then she remembers Mari has Cinderella syndrome.
Mari then asks what kind of girl is she. Kengo lists out her qualities: being popular with everyone, being unexpectedly sincere, and being a lovely person. As Kokon listens in, she realizes that she fits his description. Furthermore, she has recently eaten a burger and touched shoulders with someone. As Kokon contemplates being with Kengo, he carries on by saying she is a bit of an idiot and fatally clumsy. At that point, Kokon dismisses the idea. He then continues to say she is just seeking true love and she would take action to do so which he respects.
Kon then orders Mari to pat his head as a reward for saying something nice but unbeknownst to them, Seki has just witnessed the interaction nearby.
