Seize the fortune by the forelock. is the eighteenth chapter of the manga series Renai Daikou, written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Nishizawa 5mm. It was released in issue #49, 2023 of Weekly Young Jump on November 2, 2023.[1]
Plot[]
Nobuko begins to wonder why Seki has joined the manga club. He does not appear to be particularly interested in manga, so she wonders out loud what his reasons are for joining the manga club; maybe he is interested in her. Nanto, who has been hearing Nobuko's logic up to this point, starts feeling uneasy. He reminisces about the past, and he has been Nobuko's friend since childhood; they have been neighbors since birth. And despite being one year older, they have been attending the same schools since kindergarten. As he grows older, he realizes that his feelings for her are love, but Nanto never acts on them, as he believes she is too young, and it would be selfish for him to do anything.
However, now that Nobuko is old enough to understand, she is seemingly interested in someone else, and this makes Nanto uneasy. Nobuko continues to talk about Seki, from his appearance to his qualities. Nanto's inner turmoil begins to spiral out of control. However, despite wanting to say things that would dissuade her, he says the opposite. He then brings up the question of what she would do if Seki were to confess to her. Nobuko feigns uncertainty, but Nanto believes he knows how events are going to transpire. Not only would they start dating, but they would be married with kids not long after, and she would probably be a victim of domestic abuse.
Nanto contemplates these thoughts as he's bringing things to the staff room. On his way, he runs into Seki, who asks if he is alright, as he looks slightly pale. Seki then helps with carrying things to the staff room. On their way, Seki passes Nanto a drink, telling him to stay hydrated in the heat. They then part ways, but Nanto spots Seki meeting with his friends, who promptly ask him about the drink he was getting. Nanto is shocked, as he wonders if Seki is kind to everyone and whether he has any flaws for him to have a chance with Nobuko.
Nanto concludes the only way he has a chance is through manga, so he decides to get Nobuko's attention with manga. At the manga club, Nanto confides about pain with Shinozaki, who thinks he is being emo.
